Linda
Palmer's consultations are directed toward families who are
interested
in optimal mental and physical health with minimal drug usage. Her nutrition
advice is not for those seeking mainstream industry-educated dietician
advice. Palmer's nutrition consultations are based on contemporary science
research findings. Her recommendations are health and preventive-health
oriented as opposed to industry directed. Her parenting advice grows
from attachment parenting principles, based on the mountains of psychological
evidence that responsive parenting develops the most psychologically
healthy and secure individuals.

Dr. Linda Folden Palmer left her 11-year nutrition-oriented chiropractic practice after the health challenges of her newborn son (in 1995) overwhelmed her. With a lack of appropriate or helpful advice from the usual pediatric sources, Palmer's extensive literature research led to life-saving solutions for her own extremely colicky, failure-to-thrive son, and eventually to the writing of Baby Matters, What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Caring for Your Baby. Her involvements in many kinds of breastfeeding and natural parenting organizations provided her with exposure to hundreds of families whose lessons she probed and questions she acknowledged. These provided additional motivation and valuable information for her extensively documented book.
Since
1995, Palmer has been extensively involved in lactation education
groups
and
natural childbirth education. She has coordinated Attachment Parenting
Support Groups throughout San Diego County since 1997, personally moderating
monthly groups for 5 years. She has taught physiology and pathology
in health colleges, lectured in topics of pediatric health and nutrition
to health professionals, and led a series of healthy parenting classes
for new families. She has provided attachment parenting, child nutrition,
and breastfeeding consultations since 1998, with emphasis on infant
colic, sleep problems, and food intolerance reactions babies have to
breastfeeding mother's diet as well as formula and supplemental foods.
She consults with diet-related intestinal and behavior problems in older
children as well.
Linda Folden Palmer, DC, is a retired, non-practicing chiropractor who has become expert in areas of attachment parenting, natural child health (as opposed to child diseases), and child nutrition. She provides lay consultations to parents for natural parenting, child health, and child nutrition concerns, alerting parents to information such as that which has been published in science journals, as well as passing on experiences she has accumulated through consultations with other families over the years. Consultations are provided for information purposes only. No part of her discussion should be taken as, or considered a substitute for, medical diagnosis or medical treatment prescription. Palmer does not treat nor prescribe treatments for medical or chiropractic conditions. She does not sell nutritional supplements or other treatments.
